At Surry Hills Dental Centre, health is our utmost priority. We don’t just jump into straightening your teeth for aesthetic goals. Because straight teeth are great - but not if they’re sitting in infected gums or next to a decaying molar.
The Invisalign Process That You Need To Know
Step 1: Your Dental “Pink Slip”
Think of it like a dental roadworthy certificate. We’ll do a thorough check-up and cleaning to make sure your teeth and gums are healthy enough to begin. If anything needs treating first, we sort that out.
Step 2: Records + Data Collection
We take:
- A digital scan of your teeth (no goopy molds here)
- X-rays
- Photos — calibrated professional clinical photos, not the selfie kind
This helps us create a 3D model of your smile and begin planning the transformation.
Step 3: Digital Planning
This is where the magic starts. Behind the scenes, I collaborate with Invisalign’s technicians to design your new smile, based on the smile goals that we have established together. Sometimes we build two or three options, depending on your goals and commitment level (eg are we going for the ideal, or are we going for ‘only fix what bothers me’). We then meet again to talk through the pros and cons because it’s often difficult to see what difference in plans without a visual.
Step 4: Approval + Arrival
Once we’ve locked in your plan, your aligners are manufactured and sent our way. It usually takes about 1–2 weeks.
Step 5: Fitting Day
Your first aligner appointment is a longer one. We’ll:
Place small “buttons” (aka attachments) on your teeth (read more about them here- insert blog 5 link)
Do minor filing (if needed — to create space)
Show you how to wear, remove, and care for your aligners
Talk food, drinks, routines, and Invisalign life hacks
