Invisalign Cost Guide: Which Treatment Tier Fits You Best?
In part 1 of this 3-part blog, I want to cover the top 3 FAQs from my patients. The first being the cost. Let’s get the elephant out of the room. When it comes to straightening your teeth, especially with clear aligners, it’s important to know exactly what you're getting into financially, and what the inclusions and exclusions are, because nobody likes surprises at the dentist! Please bear in mind that these prices are valid as of 2025 and are subject to change depending on your unique needs.
The truth is, there’s no one-size-fits-all price tag for Invisalign. Just like no two smiles are the same, there are different types of Invisalign treatments for different needs. If you’ve been Googling Invisalign Sydney or Invisalign cost in Sydney, this guide will help break things down.
Why Invisalign Prices Vary
To understand the Invisalign cost, you first need to understand how Invisalign works. As we mentioned in the last blog, each clear aligner moves your teeth by about 0.25mm or 2 degrees of rotation. So, depending on your treatment goals—whether it's correcting one tooth or improving a bite issue—that determines which Invisalign package is best for you.
You might be wondering: How do braces work compared to clear aligners? Traditional braces move teeth with wires and brackets, while Invisalign relies on a series of custom-made, removable aligners that are nearly invisible. Both can be effective—what’s best for you depends on your case and lifestyle.
There are typically four Invisalign tiers offered at Surry Hills Dental Centre:
Invisalign Cost in Sydney
Invisalign Comprehensive - $9,800
This one’s for the full works—the teeth that need some serious shifting. Whether you’ve got severe crowding, bite issues, or a combination of both, this treatment is designed to address them all. You’ll get an unlimited number of trays, which is great because it means we can move your teeth safely and efficiently, focusing on the final outcome, rather than taking shortcuts to ‘fit them all in’.
Invisalign Moderate - $8,900
This tier allows us to order up to 26 trays. It’s great for moderate crowding and minor bite issues. While it’s a bit more limited than Comprehensive, it still gives us plenty of flexibility to move your teeth into their ideal position. It’s a great option if you have some crowding or minor alignment issues that don’t require as much movement.
Invisalign Light - $6,500
With this option, we can order up to 14 trays, and it’s usually perfect for smaller corrections. Maybe you’ve got one or two teeth that need shifting or a small amount of crowding to fix. It’s more limited in terms of how much we can move your teeth, but if you're mostly concerned with one or two teeth, it could be the right choice.
Invisalign Express - $4,500
Invisalign Express is designed for people who need very minor adjustments or have had previous braces and ‘forgot’ to wear their retainer, and their teeth have moved, so we just need to shift it back a little —think small tweaks for those who only need seven trays to achieve their goal. This is a quick fix, ideal for people with minor teeth misalignment who want fast results without going through a long process. Usually, there is some kind of compromise involved.
Which Invisalign is The Best For Me?
The next most common question we hear is, “How do I know which Invisalign tier I need?”
It’s not just about the price—it’s about your goals. Are you aiming for a better smile with just one tooth realigned? Or do you have bite concerns that affect more than aesthetics?
Sometimes, what looks like a small issue (like one crooked tooth) may tie back to a larger alignment or bite concern. That’s when we dive into terms like "functional shifts" and "restricted anterior envelope of function"—big words, yes, but important ones. If you're working with a trusted dentist in Sydney, they'll help identify which treatment plan suits you best.
Is there a payment plan for Invisalign?
Unlike getting a filling, moving your teeth doesn’t happen in one visit. At Surry Hills Dental Centre, we offer an interest-free payment plan for your Invisalign fees. The fee quoted for your treatment is spread out throughout your treatment time. So, after a deposit is paid to authorize manufacture of your custom aligners, the typical fee is $500 every 6-8 weeks (usually coinciding with your check-ins with us) until your treatment fee is paid in full. We like to keep it simple for you!
What’s Included (and What’s Not)
I know, you’re thinking: Are there any surprises here?
Here’s what you can expect:
Refinements
Every treatment tier comes with a set number of refinements included. For Express and Light, you’ll get one round of refinements (perfect for minor adjustments). If you require further rounds of fine-tuning, there will be an additional fee. For Moderate and Comprehensive, you’ll get three rounds of refinements. This means if we need to make small tweaks along the way to get things just right, or if you’ve had too much fun on your holidays and lost your trays, that’s covered within your tier limitations.
Retainers
At the end of your treatment, you’ll receive a set of top and bottom removable retainers to keep your teeth in place. Trust me, they’re essential. (We’ve all heard the stories—no retainer, teeth shift back, and we’re starting over.) At Surry Hills Dental Centre, your set of top and bottom removable retainers is included in your fee. If you’re interested in fixed wire retainers, that’s also an option, typically for an extra fee.
Invisalign vs. Braces: What's the Cost Difference?
If you’re still weighing your options between Invisalign and traditional braces, it’s worth noting that braces cost in Sydney typically ranges from $6,000 to $9,000 depending on complexity. With advancement in technology nowadays, both braces and Invisalign have similar costs.
So, how do braces work compared to aligners? Braces use metal wires and brackets glued to your teeth to move them, while clear aligners like Invisalign offer a more discreet and flexible option—no dietary restrictions, easier cleaning, and fewer emergency dental visits.
If aesthetics and convenience are important to you, many consider Invisalign a better fit, especially since both options are similar in costs, and in some cases Invisalign can deliver a faster result than braces. .
